5 Simple Ways to Support Your Child's Skills at Home

Progress in ABA doesn't only happen during sessions — it grows in everyday moments at home. Here are five strategies our clinical team teaches every family.

1. Narrate your day

Talk through routines in short, clear phrases: "Shoes on. Let's go." Language grows through repetition in real contexts.

2. Offer choices

"Apple or banana?" Choices build communication and reduce frustration, because your child gets a say.

3. Celebrate small wins immediately

Praise works best the moment a skill happens. Be specific: "You put your cup in the sink — thank you!"

4. Keep routines predictable

Consistent order (bath → pajamas → story) lowers anxiety and makes learning easier. Visual schedules help a lot.

5. Follow your child's lead in play

Join what they already love. Connection first — skills follow.
